Things parents ask us
Common questions
common questions
Blooming Years is a family-run nursery group across South and West London where children genuinely learn to do things for themselves. Every space is thoughtfully designed to build motor skills, independence and confidence. Mealtimes bring all age groups together so younger children learn from older ones. Fresh meals are prepared daily by our nursery chefs, and our enabling environment means children are gently encouraged to explore and experiment rather than be spoon-fed.
We have six nurseries across South and West London: Clapham Common, Croydon, Streatham Hill, Barons Court, Wimbledon and Wimbledon Broadway. Each location serves families in the surrounding areas. Please take a look to see which nursery is closest to you.
We welcome children from 3 months to 5 years, supporting their development through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) from babyhood right through to school readiness.
Yes, we offer both the 15 and 30 hour funded childcare entitlements. We are happy to guide you through the process.
Our fees vary depending on location and sessions chosen. Please visit our Fees and Funding page or contact us directly to discuss pricing and availability at your preferred nursery.
We always recommend visiting before registering to ensure we are the right fit for your family. You can book a viewing online, or get in touch by phone or email to ask specific questions.
All six Blooming Years nurseries are registered with Ofsted. Each of our four inspected locations has been rated Good, and we look forward to welcoming inspectors to our two newest settings soon - we're confident they'll reflect the same high standards our families have come to expect. Our experienced team, many of whom are parents and grandparents themselves, are DBS checked, first aid trained, and share a genuine passion for early years care.
We operate a waiting list and places are offered on a first come, first served basis. The best way to check availability is to get in touch or book a viewing, and we will talk you through current and upcoming spaces.
child experience
We take settling in very seriously at Blooming Years. Before your child officially starts, we organise a series of play and stay sessions where they are gently introduced to their new friends, carers and teachers. This gives us time to get to know your child and your family, and gives you the opportunity to ask questions and feel confident before returning to work. Each child settles at their own pace.
Communication with parents is paramount to us. You will receive daily updates on what your child did, ate and, for younger children, sleep and toileting information. We also keep you informed about the curriculum and your child's progress, and share ideas on how to extend their learning at home.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, designing a tailor-made curriculum for each child based on their individual interests and potential. Our activities cover communication, physical development, personal and social skills, literacy, maths, understanding of the world and expressive arts.
daily life
Children enjoy a balance of structured activities and free play. A typical day includes morning circle time, focus activities, garden play, sensory and discovery play, small group language work, music and movement, mealtimes together and plenty of time to explore and imagine. We encourage children to make choices and develop friendships through play.
Yes, outdoor play is an integral part of our day. Children enjoy our large gardens and take part in regular outings, walks and buggy rides in the local community and parks.
All meals and snacks are freshly prepared by our nursery chefs each day. Your child will enjoy breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and tea. We encourage children to try new flavours and textures, and mealtimes are social moments to learn table manners.
practical
Please bring: a named coat, a change of spare clothes and any comfort items your child needs. For younger children, please provide nappies and wipes. We will let you know if anything else is required.
Yes, all staff are DBS checked and hold Paediatric First Aid qualifications. Our team comprises qualified and experienced practitioners, many of whom are parents and grandparents themselves. We provide ongoing training and support to help staff be at their best with the children.
