Why families choose us
Our approach
What parents often tell us after their first visit is that they were not expecting a nursery to feel quite so calm, and quite so child-led. We do not run a curriculum where children are told what to do and when. Instead, every room and every activity is set up to help children work things out for themselves, build real confidence, and develop the kind of independent thinking that stays with them long after they leave us. We teach children how to think, not what to think, and you can see that in the way they move around the space.

In practice
The practical side matters just as much. Every child starts with a gradual, supported settling-in period, with parents present at the start and sessions increasing at a pace that suits your child rather than our timetable. We speak with you every single day during settling, and we hold termly one-to-ones throughout your child's time with us so you always know how they are getting on. We accept both 15 and 30 hours government-funded childcare, and our most recent Ofsted inspection rated us Good.

For families in Clapham South
Families from the Clapham South side of the Common tend to be doing the morning school run or tube commute from a fairly residential, quieter stretch of the borough. The South Side itself is a pleasant walk with the Common alongside you, and a good number of our current families come from exactly that direction. It suits parents who want somewhere genuinely close to home rather than adding travel in the opposite direction to an already busy morning.

Things parents ask us
Common questions
We are very conveniently placed for families coming from the Clapham South area, sitting right on Clapham Common South Side at SW4 7AA. Clapham South tube station is within easy walking distance, making the morning run straightforward whether you are on foot or coming off the Northern line. If you are driving, there is street parking nearby for drop-off and pick-up.
Yes, we accept both the 15-hour universal entitlement and the 30-hour extended offer at Blooming Years. The 15 hours is available to all families with three and four year olds, while the 30 hours is for working families who meet the government's earnings criteria. We would encourage you to check your eligibility through the Childcare Choices website and to let us know early in the process so we can help you plan your funding around our available sessions.
We welcome children from 3 months old through to 5 years, so we can support families from a very early stage right through to school entry. Places, particularly for babies, do fill up well in advance, and we would suggest getting in touch as early as you can once you know your return-to-work date or the term you are hoping to start. We allocate places on a first-come, first-served basis, though we always try to be as flexible as possible for families with specific needs.
An Ofsted rating of Good means that inspectors found our teaching, care, leadership and outcomes for children to all meet a solid standard, and we are proud of that. In practical terms it means you can feel confident that what we say we do, we actually do, and that an independent body has verified it. We see the inspection process as a helpful check rather than something to fear, and we are always working to build on the feedback we receive.
When you visit we will show you around the rooms your child would be using, introduce you to the team and give you a proper chance to ask questions without feeling rushed. If you decide to go ahead, we use a settling-in process that is led by your child's pace rather than a fixed timetable, usually starting with short visits alongside you before building up gradually. Every child is assigned a key person who gets to know them and your family before their first full day, which makes a real difference to how settled children feel in those early weeks.
