A nursery worth the walk from Clapham North
If you live near Clapham North tube or along the High Street, Blooming Years is closer than you might think - a gentle walk across the Common that many families from this part of SW4 and SW9 already make each morning. We're on Clapham Common South Side, right on the edge of the Common itself, with a large garden that tends to surprise people given how central we are. If you'd like to come and see it for yourself, we're always happy to show you round.
Why families choose us
Our approach
What parents often tell us, after their first visit, is that they weren't expecting the atmosphere to feel quite so calm. That's not accidental. We've thought carefully about how every room is arranged, how children move through their day, and how interactions are shaped - because we want children to learn how to work things out for themselves, not just follow instructions. We're building confidence and independence from very early on, and you start to see that in the way children carry themselves here.

In practice
On the practical side, we know that starting nursery is a big moment for everyone, so we take the settling-in process seriously. Sessions build up gradually, you're with your child at the start, and we talk to you every day during that period. We also hold termly one-to-ones so there's always a proper conversation, not just a quick word at the door. We accept 15 and 30 hours funded childcare, and if you'd like to read our Ofsted report before you even contact us, it's there on our website - we were rated Good and we're proud of what it reflects.

For families in Clapham North
Families from Clapham North tend to suit this nursery well because the morning routine here already involves moving through or past the Common. For parents heading into town after drop-off, the commute logic works naturally. This part of north Clapham has a lot of families who've put down roots here precisely because of the green space and the community feel, and that's exactly what we reflect on the other side of the Common.

Things parents ask us
Common questions
From Clapham North tube station, we are about a 10 to 12 minute walk south along Clapham High Street and across Clapham Common. Clapham Common station on the Northern line is actually the closest tube to us, but Clapham North is a very manageable distance and plenty of our families come from that direction. If you are driving, there is street parking available nearby for drop-off and pick-up.
Yes, we accept both the 15-hour universal entitlement and the 30-hour extended entitlement for eligible families. The 15 hours is available to all children aged 3 and 4, while the 30 hours requires a working parent or carer to meet the government's eligibility criteria, which you can check through the Childcare Choices website. Funded hours can be applied across our sessions during term time, and we will talk you through how that works in practice when you enquire, so there are no surprises around costs.
We welcome children from 3 months old through to 5 years, so we can genuinely be there from the very early stages right through to school. Places, particularly for the younger baby rooms, do fill up well in advance, and we would always recommend getting in touch as early as you can, even if your start date is several months away. We allocate places based on when enquiries come in alongside the age of the child and the sessions needed, so it is worth having that initial conversation sooner rather than later.
A Good rating from Ofsted means that inspectors found our teaching, care, and management to be effective across the board, and that children are making strong progress in their learning and development. In practical terms, it means you can have confidence that what we told you at your visit reflects what inspectors saw when they looked closely at how we work. We take our rating seriously and use feedback from every inspection to keep improving, rather than treating it as a box-ticking exercise.
When you visit, we will show you around the nursery, introduce you to the room your child would be in, and answer any questions you have honestly, including the ones parents sometimes feel awkward asking. If you decide to go ahead and secure a place, we arrange a gradual settling-in process that is built around your child's pace rather than a fixed schedule. It usually involves a few shorter sessions to begin with, staying with your child initially and then stepping back as they grow in confidence, and we keep in close contact with you throughout so you feel informed at every stage.
