A nursery for families living near Wimbledon Common
If you live off the Ridgway, along the Common itself, or in one of the roads running down towards the Village, you are probably weighing up childcare options that work around a morning that already has a lot moving in it. Blooming Years is on Alexandra Road, a straightforward journey from the Common side of Wimbledon, and close enough that the drop-off genuinely fits into a working day. We would love to show you around so you can see for yourself whether it feels right for your family.
Why families choose us
Our approach
What parents tend to notice first when they visit is not the rooms or the resources, it is the atmosphere. Children here are not quietly compliant. They are busy, curious and visibly confident, because we have built everything around teaching them how to think, not what to think. Every interaction is designed to build independence so that children learn to trust their own instincts, and that quality stays with them long after they leave us.

In practice
The practical side matters just as much, and we take it seriously. Every child starts gradually, with sessions that increase slowly and parents present in the early days. We speak with you every day during settling, and we hold termly one-to-ones so you always have a proper conversation, not just a wave at the door. We accept both 15 and 30 hours of funded childcare, and our Ofsted rating is Good, which you can read in full on the Ofsted website rather than just taking our word for it.

For families in Wimbledon Common
Families from the Wimbledon Common side often tell us that the morning rhythm here suits them. The Village end of Wimbledon is quieter than the station end, and the route to us on Alexandra Road does not pull you into the busiest parts of town before you have even started your day. If one of you is heading into central London and the other is working locally or from home, the drop-off works in both directions without too much backtracking.

Things parents ask us
Common questions
Blooming Years Nursery is located at 41 Alexandra Road, SW19 7JZ, which is a short distance from Wimbledon Common, making it a convenient choice for families in the area. Many of our families walk or cycle over, and the journey is straightforward whether you are coming through the residential streets nearby or from the common side. Wimbledon station is also close by, served by the District line, tram and National Rail, so families commuting through the area will find drop-off fits naturally into their morning routine. There is also local parking available for those who drive.
Yes, we accept both 15 and 30 hours of government-funded childcare at Blooming Years. The 15 hours is available to all families with children aged 3 and 4, while the 30 hours is for eligible working families in the same age group, subject to meeting the income criteria set by the government. Funding is applied across our standard session times, and we will talk you through exactly how it works for your child's timetable when you visit or get in touch. If you are unsure whether you qualify, the government's Childcare Choices website is a good place to check before you apply.
We welcome children from 3 months old through to 5 years at Blooming Years, so families can join us from a very early stage and stay right through to starting school. Places, particularly for babies, can fill up quickly, so we would always encourage families to register their interest as early as possible, even before their child is born. When a place becomes available, we work through our waiting list and contact families directly to discuss whether the timing and sessions still work for them. There is no obligation when you register an interest, and we are happy to keep you updated on availability as it changes.
A Good Ofsted rating means that inspectors have assessed the quality of care, learning and safeguarding at Blooming Years and found it to be effective and well-managed across the board. In practice, it means the curriculum is appropriate for children's ages and stages, staff are well-qualified and responsive to children's needs, and the environment is safe and supportive. It is not a ceiling for us though, and we are always looking at how we can strengthen what we do rather than simply meeting a standard. Parents can read our full Ofsted report on the Ofsted website if they want to understand the detail behind the rating.
When you come for a visit, you will have a proper look around the nursery, meet some of the team and have time to ask questions without any pressure. We want you to get a real feel for how the day runs and how the children interact with staff, so we encourage you to take your time rather than rushing through. If you decide to go ahead and secure a place, we use a gradual settling-in process where your child starts with shorter sessions and builds up over a couple of weeks, always at a pace that feels right for them and for you. We will assign your child a key person from the start, so there is a familiar face both your child and you can rely on from day one.
