If you're doing the morning walk down Alexandra Road or cutting through Broadway Court on your way to the station, you've probably already walked past Blooming Years without realising it. Things parents ask us
Common questions
We are based at 41 Alexandra Road, SW19 7JZ, which is a short walk from Wimbledon station. The station is served by the District line, tram and National Rail, so families coming from across south west London tend to find us very straightforward to reach. If you are driving, there is local parking available nearby, and many of our families combine the school run with their commute into central London.
Yes, we accept both the 15-hour and 30-hour government funding entitlements. All three and four year olds in England are entitled to 15 hours of free childcare per week, and the 30-hour entitlement is available to eligible working families in that same age group. We are happy to walk you through how the funding applies to your specific sessions when you get in touch, as the way it is structured can vary depending on the hours you need.
We welcome children from 3 months through to 5 years old. Places, particularly for babies, do fill up well in advance, so we would encourage families to get in touch as early as possible, even during pregnancy. We allocate places based on when enquiries are received, and we will always be honest with you about availability and likely waiting times rather than leave you guessing.
An Ofsted rating of Good means that inspectors assessed the quality of teaching, care, leadership and children's outcomes and found them to be strong across the board. In practical terms it means the nursery is well managed, staff know how to support children's development, and safeguarding procedures are robust. We take the inspection process seriously, but more importantly we see it as a reflection of the everyday work our team puts in rather than a one-off performance.
When you come for a visit you will be shown around the nursery, meet some of the team, and have a proper conversation about your child's needs and your family's routine. We do not rush visits and genuinely want you to leave feeling informed rather than sold to. Once a place is confirmed, we use a gradual settling-in process where your child spends short sessions with us initially, building up at a pace that feels right for them and for you.
